I didn't imagine that looking for lakes would be dangerous,
but it appears to be so, based on all the warning signs I've seen.
First on the roads into the lakes:
Luckily it was open in the direction we wanted to travel (we thought),
but NOT REALLY OPEN, if you see what I mean.
FIRE
No Fire Please!
or this
Since we don't really have too many terrain dangers
lurking around most of our lakes, we don't post warnings to
"watch out for avalanches" or "stay behind guard rails”
or “lightning will knock a branch on your head”

HOWEVER!
ARMAMENTS
I have seen "watch out for bombs that will blow (you) up!"
Mostly, our local lake dangers tend to be of the
"this or that animal can kill you"
variety.
RATTLESNAKES
Read the brochure please...
MOUNTAIN LIONS
RAPTORS
BEES
POISON OAK
If not the dangerous animals, then
"this or that plant can injure or kill you".
CACTUS
WEATHER
If not dangerous roads, fires, bombs, animals, insects, and plants,
then the weather will get you...
Yes, looking for lakes can be a risky business...
Is it worth the danger???
